Model answers (aimed at band 7+)
Do you do any sport?
Not as much as I should, to be honest. I go to the gym two or three times a week, mostly to counteract all the sitting I do at university, and on Sundays I sometimes play volleyball with friends.
What sports are popular in your country?
Football is by far the most popular, both to play and to watch. Wrestling and boxing are big too, and Uzbekistan has done really well in boxing at the Olympics, so a lot of boys take it up after seeing that.
Do you prefer playing sport or watching it?
Definitely playing. Watching a match can be fun with friends, but I get bored if I'm just sitting there for ninety minutes. I'd much rather be running around myself, even if I'm not very good.
Is it important for people to exercise regularly?
Absolutely, especially now that so many jobs involve sitting at a desk all day. It doesn't have to be anything intense; even a brisk thirty-minute walk every day makes a real difference to your health and your mood.
