AI and teachers is a prediction statement ("will replace"). Predictions call for careful language: "I suspect", "probably", "rather than". The strongest conclusion is that AI will change the teacher's job rather than replace it.
The task
Statement: Artificial intelligence will replace teachers.
| For | Against |
|---|---|
| AI can explain topics at any time | Teachers motivate and inspire students |
| It adapts to each student's level | Children need human contact and discipline |
| It is cheaper than hiring more teachers | AI makes mistakes and needs supervision |
You need to present both sides and argue your own position: one minute to prepare, two minutes to speak. This is a practice task in the exam's format.
Model answer (about 2 minutes)
Artificial intelligence will replace teachers.
With AI tools improving so quickly, many people are asking whether teachers will still be needed in ten or twenty years. There are arguments on both sides, but I don't think the answer is a simple yes.
Those who believe AI will replace teachers have a point. An AI tutor is available at any time of day, it never gets tired of explaining the same thing, and it can adapt to each student's level, which is almost impossible for one teacher with thirty pupils. It's also much cheaper than training and hiring more teachers, which matters in countries where schools are overcrowded. Even for speaking practice, AI can already give instant feedback on mistakes.
However, teaching isn't only about passing on information. Good teachers motivate students, notice when someone is struggling for personal reasons and inspire them to love a subject. Children in particular need human contact, discipline and a role model, and a screen can't provide that. AI also makes mistakes, sometimes very confidently, so students still need someone who can check and guide them.
Taking everything into account, I believe AI will change the teacher's job rather than replace it. Teachers will probably spend less time explaining the basics and correcting simple errors, and more time on discussion, projects and individual support. In that sense, AI could make good teachers even more valuable.

How to answer
- With a prediction, avoid a flat yes or no: "I don't think the answer is a simple yes".
- Open the opposing view respectfully: "Those who believe... have a point".
- A line like "Teaching isn't only about..." widens the issue.
- Conclude with "change rather than replace" and describe the future with "will probably".
